                                                    The GFWC/Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs welcomes you to our website.

                MISSION STATEMENT

                The object of the GFWC/Oregon Federation of Women's Clubs (hereafter referred to as the Federation) shall be to bring into communication and to unite the women's clubs and like organizations throughout the State for the purpose of mutual benefit, and for the promotion of their common interest in educational, industrial, artistic, and scientific culture as interpreted and implemented by established policy.

            ORGANIZATION

                The Federation is filed with the State of Oregon Corporate Division as a non-profit organization and with the IRS as a 501(c)3 charitable organization.  (Individual clubs are responsible for their own filings and are not necessarily a 501(c)3 charitable organization.)

                All clubs are organized according to the structure of the General Federation of Women's Clubs.  Our Federation is organized statewide into four Districts:  Eastern (Baker, Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Jefferson, Malheur, Morrow, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wallowa, Wasco, and Wheeler counties); Southern (Coos, Curry, Douglas, Jackson, Josephine, Klamath, Lake, and Lane counties); Valley (Benton, Lincoln, Linn, Marion, and Polk counties Western: (Clackamas, Clatsop, Columbia, Hood River, Multnomah, Tillamook, Washington, and Yamhill counties)

                Local clubs are the focal point of all information.  It is their mission to create a better world through action for change within their community.

                There are approximately 4000 clubs within the United States with the purpose of sharing ideas and information to serve our local communities in positive ways.  Materials and resources are developed specifically for volunteers by the GFWC (hereafter referred to as the General Federation) and then shared with the states.  Through united action, our members promote positive change within our world - one community at a time.  We make friendships!  We have fun!  We make a difference!

                The Federation belongs to the Western States Region, which also includes Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah, and Washington.  Together the states become acquainted and share their work.  They can then recommend courses of action to the General Federation. Through this action we impact the national and international communities in a positive way to help create a better world. We strive to make a difference!

"A Collect for Clubwomen"

by

Mary Stewart

Keep us, oh God, from pettiness;

Let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.

                Let us be done with fault-finding

And leave off self-seeking.

May we put away all pretense

And meet each other face to face,

Without self-pity and without prejudice.

May we never be hasty in judgment

And always generous.

Let us take time for all things;

Make us grow calm, serene, gentle.

Teach us to put into action our better impulses,

Straightforward and unafraid.

Grant that we may realize it is

The little things that create differences,

That in the big things of life we are at one.

And may we strive to touch and to know

The great, common human heart of us all.

And, oh Lord God, let us forget not

To be kind!
